Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates for the Senior Full Stack Developer position in the School of Dentistry’s Information Technology department. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debugging applications for both VCU School of Dentistry and VCU Dental Care. This person will lead the development & database efforts of the App Dev team and will play an integral role in backend database maintenance of our Axium Electronic Health Records ( EHR ) system and picture archiving and communication system ( PACS ). This position will be responsible for maintaining all internally developed applications, including dynamic driven websites, as well as serving as a project manager for numerous application rollouts.

Minimum Hiring Standards

● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience

● Demonstrated experience in developing front end and back end web architectures and system integration using APIs, web service calls, and other protocols

● Minimum of five years of experience in developing and designing databases as well as web development

● Demonstrated experience working with cross platform optimization; working knowledge of both MS SQL Server and Oracle databases and another RDMS system; working knowledge of Javascript, HTML, and CSS

● Minimum of three years of experience with developing and maintaining applications using . NET, and C#

● Demonstrated experience using systems analysis and design techniques and standards with demonstrated ability to gather requirements and translate into system specifications for development

● Demonstrated experience working with third-party vendors

● Understanding of an electronic health record ( EHR ), FERPA, HIPAA, and category I data elements

● Project lead experience, as well as applicable work experience that demonstrates the ability to lead large-scale projects and small teams

● Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to create innovative, long-term solutions

● Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Hiring Standards

● Understanding of EHR, PHI, and EDI

● Strong proficiency in .Net applications development

● Experience and knowledge in javascript, git source control and AWS architecture

● Knowledge of Terminal 4

● General DevOps knowledge and understanding of methodologies

● Knowledge of dental practice operational workflows
