Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU School of Education is seeking applications for a full-time Educational Program Coordinator. The Educational Program Coordinator ( EPC ) performs a variety of functions to facilitate the work of the department chair, faculty, and students. The EPC helps to ensure a smooth and timely flow of information within and between departments, and other units within the School of Education and the University The EPC is responsible for course scheduling, field placements, budget monitoring, data analysis and advising. The EPC is responsible for assisting with: internal and external communication, department chair and faculty requests, program and course-related requests, the hiring of adjunct faculty and university supervisors, scheduling of department-controlled meeting and classroom spaces, advising, ordering department materials, and providing support to faculty program coordinators. The EPC is responsible for the hiring and supervision of student employees that support the work of the department.
Minimum Hiring Standards
-Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills;
-Professional administrative experience;
-Knowledge of academic course scheduling and ability to problem-solve enrollment issues;
-A pleasant, positive and helpful service-oriented attitude;
-A professional attitude and confidentiality in all interactions;
-Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work;
-Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple tasks by stated deadlines;
-Demonstrated ability to calculate mileage and use maps as a tool for making placements;
-Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and data management systems;
-Knowledge of or willingness to learn relevant software used by the university such as Chrome River, DocuSign, Canvas, Banner;
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and show initiative;
-Strong attention to detail;
-Ability to edit documents for content and format;
-Experience with purchasing, budget reconciliation and similar processes;
-Experience working in a fast paced and inclusive environment;
-Understands and adheres to existing federal, state and VCU policies, procedures, laws and regulations to ensure compliance;
-Experience working in University department settings or related fields;
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
Preferred Hiring Standards
-Knowledge of the University organization, policies and procedures;
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field.
