Residence Hall Directors (RHDs) are live-on professional staff
members with administrative responsibility for one to two residence
halls. This responsibility includes informal counseling, referral,
and co-curricular educational programming for residential students,
supervision of a staff of resident assistants (RAs), and oversight
of maintenance needs. Successful applicants will have academic
interests and experiences that include residential education,
leadership development, a commitment to equity and inclusion, civic
and social engagement, and being responsive to the needs of
students transitioning to college, especially first-year and
transfer students. We value colleagues who will be educators
outside the classroom, who demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a
commitment to academic excellence. By working collaboratively with
colleagues both within and beyond housing and residence life, and
student affairs, RHDs help residents foster leadership skills,
develop critical reasoning skills, and practice ethical
decision-making. This position requires flexibility of work hours,
and weekend work. As live-on professionals, RHDs are considered
"mandatory university personnel," and must have skills in crisis
management. Each RHD participates in a night and weekend duty
schedule, requiring periodic overnight monitoring of a duty phone,
the ability to respond to emergency situations, and other related
residential duties. This position may include a furnished apartment
with utilities. Those that apply to this position will also be
considered for positions #005232 & #005236 .
