Description
Head Coach of Esports:
  • Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive competitive Esports program which delivers quality and diverse opportunities.
  • Supervise facility maintenance and oversee facility schedules for Carroll Esports Center.
  • Create, prepare, and execute practice schedules and competition.
  • Instruct, teach, and coach student-athletes on game strategies and performance principles during practice and competition.
  • Interview, hire, train and supervise the Assistant Coaches for the competitive Esports program.
  • Navigate both academic and technical skills to assist students' future success in new and emerging digital media.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to recruit and enroll qualified Esports students for varsity-level competition.
  • Use fiscal resources efficiently and manage budget effectively.
  • Implement intramural leagues and recreational Esports for general student body.
  • Demonstrate ability to support and advise students.
  • Ensure player eligibility in all collegiate leagues and competitions.
  • Keep innovation a priority.

Assistant Director of Campus Recreation:
  • Assist in the development, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive recreation program which delivers quality and diverse opportunities for play.
  • Provide leadership, organization, and supervision for all aspects of Intramurals and Club Sports.
  • Create goals and initiatives for recreational programming.
  • Help manage and assess the Pioneer Fitness Center at Pioneer Hall.
  • In conjunction with Director, interview, hire, train and supervise student staff to include: Esports Associates, Intramural Officials, and Recreation Managers.
  • Support Director of Campus Recreation with overall function of department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Master's degree preferred in Recreation Management, College Student Personnel Administration, Sport Management, or related field.
  • One to three years of GA/professional experience at a college or university in recreation preferred.
  • One to three years of competitive Esports programming or gaming at a college or university preferred.
  • Exceptional knowledge of selected gaming titles and knowledge of relevant strategies, playing patterns, and dynamics of competitive play preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications or ability to attain upon hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collegially with staff and faculty.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The ability to enthusiastically and positively promote the University and its Esports and Recreational Sports programs is essential.
  • Ability to function effectively with the Student Life staff and the entire campus community as a collaborative, team player.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of students and an understanding of their overall educational goals as well as the academic mission of the University.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model to students and to demonstrate productive, professional behavior always.

Competitive Gaming/Computer Skills:
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software needs related to competitive Esports while collaborating with the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
  • Ability to operate gaming PC and console equipment to meet the needs of an Esports program competing in both formats.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Budgeting and electronic budget management.
