Pratt Institute Libraries' Public Services Department is seeking a detail-oriented Access Services Clerk to be an important part of the on-site team, providing information and reference services with an emphasis on resource sharing. The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator with strong organizational skills and a customer service mindset. We are looking for a candidate to help support our mission of providing outstanding service and access to a resource-rich environment that facilitates critical thinking and creative teaching and learning in the Pratt community.

The Pratt Institute Libraries support the research and education of approximately 4,800 undergraduate and graduate students across campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The Libraries provide research support to students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars pursuing teaching and learning in areas of art, design, architecture, information studies, writing, and other fields of academic inquiry and creative work.
Key Essential Duties include the following:
- Provide general information, direction, and research assistance to library users
- Support researchers with access to the Pratt Institute Libraries' collections
- Play a key role in managing Interlibrary Loan and Connect New York borrowing and lending
- Maintain Interlibrary Loan and Connect New York documentation and statistics
- Coordinate transfer of materials between Pratt Institute campus locations
- Assist with the training and supervision of student employees and graduate assistants
- Participate in the Libraries' outreach activities
Salary: $44,734 + benefits. This is an OPEIU Local 153-Technical position.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., flexible, evening and weekend hours as neededQualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Two years customer service experience, ideally in a library or academic setting. Experience working in a library or information service context is highly preferred.
Required Skills: Candidate must be able to: provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate knowledge of computer systems and applications, particularly spreadsheet software; work precisely on detail-oriented information; demonstrate excellent organizational skills; demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Basic knowledge of integrated library systems and workflows is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate intercultural competence and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Application Instructions
