Title: Accounting Associate
Position Summary: Provides customer service, performs all duties which relate to accounting which include: accounts payable and/or accounts receivable, student refunds, invoicing for third-party vendors, encumbering and disbursing funds for college expenses, cashiering duties, cash handling, and communicating with the general public. Performs other job-related duties relative to the area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates with third-party sponsors to produce accurate invoices for student tuition and fees; processes incoming third-party payments. Reviews and processes student/financial aid refunds/disbursements in accordance with institutional and TBR policies. Compiles and prepares appropriate data for account receivable billing; ensures accuracy of data for billing purposes. Assists vendors, departments, employees, and students by providing requested information or materials. Receives, sorts, and processes a variety of invoices and billings; posts all expenditures and revenues. Provides knowledgeable, professional and quality service. Maintains confidentiality of information and works in accordance with FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information. Processes system-generated reports as necessary; reviews for accuracy. Balances cash and receipts; prepares deposits. Serves as cashier when needed. Performs a variety of general clerical duties including word processing, maintain files and records, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. Monitors, balances, and reconciles various accounts. Responsible for supplemental telephone coverage. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Must be committed to a positive customer service philosophy. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet. Knowledge of principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Knowledge of basic clerical accounting principles and procedures preferred. Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment. Confident in using own initiative, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines. Detail oriented.
Pay Rate: 29,630.00 - 35,560.00 annual salary depending on experience
