The University of Wisconsin-Stout is seeking a collaborative professional to serve in this new role as the primary Business Manager for the newly structured unit, Enrollment and Strategic Initiatives, within the division of the Chancellor. Operating independently, while under the general supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Strategic Initiatives, with a dotted reporting line to the Associate Director of Stout Online, the Business Manager serves as the primary accountant for the units of Admissions, the Advisement Center, Registration and Records, Financial Aid, Stout Online, Professional Education, and Continuing Education. The Business Manager is the liaison for these units with the Business & Financial Services and Budget offices. As such, they are responsible for having up-to-date knowledge of university business processes, state and federal guidelines, financial services policies and procedures, keeping track of the financial position of their units, and ensuring effective communication within their units related to business and financial issues. The Business Manager oversees the management of financial funding strings and budget development processes for these units. The Business Manager offers advice and consultation to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Strategic Initiatives and other unit directors in order to foster effective unit finances. The Business Manager works closely and collaboratively with several university business managers and budget personnel. The Business Manager is responsible for financial reconciliation and ensuring unit compliance with university policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

 

This is a full-time annual appointment with an anticipated start date for this position of September 1, 2021.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Associates Degree
  • Two years of experience with fiscal management, accounting, or financial analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and a quantitative skills
  • Excellent judgment including sensitivity to personal and confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills in working with a diverse community
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize work

 

 

Highly Desired

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong working knowledge of data querying tools
  • Knowledge of university, state and federal fiscal rules, regulations, or procedures

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as primary accounting and budgeting liaison for departments within Enrollment and Strategic Initiatives
  • Financial Oversight of Customized Instruction Programs
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for ESI

 

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Enrollment and Strategic Initiatives is a newly structured unit that will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of university enrollment. The unit, located within the division of the Chancellor, consists of the Admissions Office, Advisement Center, the Office of Student Financial Aid Services, Registration and Records, Stout Online, Professional Education Programs and Services, and Continuing Education.
