Job Description

The Navigator will work as part of a team within TMCC, as well as with other Navigators within NSHE, to carry out the deliverables of the SANDI grant. While a primary focus will be on the Tech Careers FastTrack program, the position will focus on enhancing the impact of TMCC's short-term education and training programs that lead to certifications and employment.

This is a full-time position currently funded through June 30, 2023 with Project SANDI, a grant awarded to the State of Nevada by the U.S. Department of Education's Education Stabilization Fund - Reimagine Workforce Preparation (ESF-RWP).

The position will report to the Dean of Technical Sciences and will work closely with the SANDI Project Coordinators at the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to execute the roles and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

2. Two years experience with grant or program management.

3. Proficiency with MS Office applications and database management, such as Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

2. Two years experience working with adult learners.

3. Two years experience with a learning management system.

4. Knowledge utilizing student educational data systems (i.e., Banner, PeopleSoft, Lumens).

Responsibilities:

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Promote and recruit for TMCC short-term educational programs by organizing presentations, meetings and informational sessions with clients and community members.
  • Serve as a student success manager for FastTrack program participants.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to meet student needs and ensure student success.
  • Engage employers in applicant screening, technical problem-solving, project development and job placement
  • Oversee grant outcomes, provide oversight of data collection and reporting, and ensure compliance for grants associated with short-term training programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program outcomes and to develop and implement common practices and processes.
  • Perform all assigned duties in a manner that is consistent with the standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College Comply with department responsibilities and published college policies and procedures and NSHE published college policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to FERPA and all safety standards and regulations
  • Other Duties as Assigned


Salary Information: $48,298 starting salary placement dependent on education and experience.

Conditions of Employment

This is a full-time, non-tenure track, administrative position reporting to the Dean of Technical Sciences and works from the TMCC's William N. Pennington Applied Technology Center located at 475 Edison Way, Reno. The position requires occasional travel within the state of Nevada.

This is a grant funded position and renewable contract is contingent upon available funds from secured grants.
