Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the administrators, faculty, staff and sponsors with pre award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University. The pre-award administrator explains, interprets and implements, university, state and federal regulations related to grant activities. This position assists the campus with several areas of research administration including but not limited to: proposal submissions, award execution, budget transfers and various agency requests.


Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly, Microsoft Word and Excel applications; comprehensive and working knowledge of Pre-Award grant administration; minimum experience with Post-Award grant transactions; ability to comprehend and operate various grant related systems; ability to provide reports and respond to requests for information from coworkers and customers; ability to process budget transfers and budget modification requests on all sponsored projects; ability to analyze each transaction according to the award terms and conditions; ability to provide expert guidance on pre-award grants management and resolve concerns from customers; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.
