Associate’s degree in Building Maintenance or qualifying field;
OR
A combination of formal training, 5 years of work experience and professional tested experience that provides a foundation in the subject matter being taught

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • Experience teaching basic building structural principles.
  • Experience teaching mechanical principles in a residential setting.
  • Experience teaching air conditioning for a residential setting.
  • Experience teaching mechanical system installation process/ procedures for a residential setting.
  • Experience teaching the properties of building science.
  • Successfully completed related training/education in a recognized institution or program.
  • Experience developing related curriculum.
  • Experience teaching in a community college setting.
Work Hours

Position will require teaching day, evening, and/or weekend classes.

  • Official transcripts are required if selected for interview. Candidates who are currently completing the specified degree or requirements must submit documentation that all requirements, including conferral of degree, will be met by June 30, 2018.
  • Applicants selected for an interview will be required to prepare a ten (10) minute teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.
  • Interviews will be conducted by a hiring committee.
  • Position will remain open until filled.

Brief Description of Duties:

Full-Time faculty position responsible for teaching Building Maintenance & Construction.

  • Courses will include all phases of commercial and residential building maintenance & construction.
  • Building Maintenance & Construction project supervision.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding Construction Industry.
  • Position will require teaching day, evening, and/or weekend classes.
  • Advise students in this field for assessment, credentials and transfer to a four-year university.
  • Develop, assess and revise Building Maintenance & Construction curriculum for diverse learners.
  • Participate in school/community partnerships, advisory boards, and professional organizations.
  • Participate in all aspects of course assessment, and program review
  • Participate in professional activities and development, including serving on district/division/department committees; represent MCC at statewide committees, and maintain professional memberships in order to stay current in the field.
  • Familiarity with and use of multiple instructional strategies that recognize the diversity of student learning styles and needs.

Special Requirements: Specific Experience Required:
  • Experience teaching basic building structural principles.
