Primary Function

This employee provides logistical support for the KNPE programs and faculty. Primarily, this position will provide office clerical support, serve as a main office receptionist, provide advising and scheduling support, and serve to oversee facilities, equipment, and inventory in the building. The individual in this role will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that program needs and departmental operations are follow best practices.

The employee in this position is supervised by the Department Administrative Aide; however, the employee is ultimately responsible to the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

Office Clerical Support
• Answer department telephone; serve as receptionist in main department office; assure adherence to established work priorities; promote positive public relations with students, parents, the public, and faculty.
• Answer general questions regarding the department and the programs.
• Assist faculty with items related to classes, students and research.
• Assist with departmental budgeting, scheduling, and personnel actions.

Advising and Scheduling Support
• Schedule advising appointments.
• Assist faculty with scheduling rooms related to classes, labs, and research.
• Assist advisers as needed.

Facilities
• Assign locks and lockers; keep an accurate data base of locks, lockers & lock combinations.
• Prepare equipment for classes.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the equipment room.
• Work with the Office Administrator regarding equipment purchasing.
• Prepare spaces for classes and rentals.
• Manage inventory for equipment located in Anderson Hall.

Miscellaneous
• Perform other related duties, not listed above, that are deemed necessary for the department to function normally.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience at a comparable position

3. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the categories below:
A. work experience performing office/clerical activities, including use of computer systems
B. college or university course work in any curriculum
- twelve (12) semester hours = six (6) months
- twenty-four (24) semester hours = twelve (12) months
- thirty-six (36) semester hours = eighteen (18) months
- forty-eight (48) semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
