Job Description:
  • 45%  Provide individual, couple, and group psychotherapy appropriate for a university setting, both in-person and through telehealth, with an emphasis on a short-term model of treatment. Participate in on-call rotation as needed. Conduct outreach and training.
  • 30%  Assist in the leadership and daily operation of Mental Health Service, including the provision of psychotherapy, crisis intervention, professional consultation and outreach programming. Provide administrative and clinical supervision of a team of social workers and licensed professional counselors. Ensure the unit meets and maintains all standards set forth by accrediting bodies, including the Licensed Professional Counselor and Social Work Board of Examiners and the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care.
  • 15%  Participate in quality improvement and assessment. Review data available on the departmental dashboard and in the business intelligence portion of the clinic management system to craft studies and inform practice. Evaluate policies and procedures to support customer service and access.
  • 10%  Develop step-care options and cultivate partnerships to leverage campus resources to expand services. Support related communication and marketing. Serve on committees, working groups, and needs assessment teams at the departmental, division and university level. Perform other duties as assigned.

Mater’s Degree

Master's in social work, counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology from an accredited program.

At least 3 years post master's experience providing clinical services to diverse populations.

1 year of experience as a supervisor of full-time professional staff in a clinical setting.


Clinical experience working with the young adult population; working in crisis management; working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary health team; working in college/ university setting.


Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends. 


Possess a license (LPC, LCSW, LP) to practice in Louisiana or license eligible at time of hire.

Full license to practice clinically and independently

Certification as a Board Approved Clinical Supervisors (BACS, LPC-S)

Special Instructions:

Reporting to the Director, Mental Health Service, the Assistant Director is a member of the unit leadership team and supports the management of daily operations and supervision a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of clinical/ counseling psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed counselors and a psychiatrist. The Assistant Director provides direct care and participates in campus education and training. S/he should have a deep appreciation for a collaborative care model and a commitment to advancing the divisional priorities of quality, inclusion and access, mattering and belonging.
