Assistant Professor, Science in Society Program
The Science in Society Program at Wesleyan University seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor beginning in July 2022 with substantive research and teaching interests in social and cultural studies of science, technology and/or medicine/health sciences in the Global South. The Science in Society Program is an interdisciplinary program offering an undergraduate major in the history, philosophy and social studies of science, technology, and health, conjoined with course work in a natural science. Wesleyan University is a highly selective liberal arts college with a two-course per semester teaching load and strong support for both research and teaching. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, carrying out a program of research, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
A Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies, History of Medicine, Sociology, Anthropology, relevant area studies, or other relevant academic discipline or related field must be in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. within one year of hire.
