Position Summary
The Director of Softball Operations oversees day-to-day operations and keeps the head coach apprised of significant events for the University of Oregon women's softball programs. They will communicate, implement, and enforce team policy and standards to student-athletes, assistant coaches, and other athletic department employees. They are responsible for carrying out major assignments for the program's recruiting, team travel, camps, and student-athlete experience. They will provide consultation to the head coach on issues of travel, student-athlete recruiting, eligibility, academic progress, and life-skills. The position will also investigate and resolve matters involving NCAA compliance and student-athlete academic concerns. They will interact with university and department personnel on behalf of 20+ student-athletes regarding compliance, facilities, equipment, academics, tutoring, and community outreach.
The Director of Softball Operations is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 conference and the NCAA. In performing these duties, the Director works under very little supervision and therefore is required to customarily and regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion with respect to matters of significance.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree
- Two years of experience working within Division I collegiate
athletics
Professional Competencies - Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Administrative skills and the ability to motivate staff and
volunteers to achieve administrative goals
- High motivation with a capacity for hard work within the
context of an intensely goal-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience working as director of operations at a
Division I, Power 5 athletic department
- Prior experience playing or working with a collegiate softball
program
- Capacity to interact comfortably with those individuals and
constituency groups (student-athletes, alumni, coaches, parents,
etc.) crucial to the advancement of the University of Oregon
