General Description:Reporting to the Director of Admissions, this position serves as a primary recruiter for all master's and PhD programs in the School of Advanced International Studies across the Washington, D.C., Bologna, Italy and Nanjing, China campuses.Responsible for implementing and overseeing data management protocols within the Slate Technolutions client relationship management (CRM) software, as well as administering the technical functions of importing and exporting applicant data from internal and external sources. This position will also involve collaboration with the Director of the Hopkins-Nanjing Center (HNC) Washington Office to support the recruitment of American and international students for graduate study in Nanjing, China.

As a member of the Admissions team, this position works collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Alumni Relations, the Office of Marketing and Communications, and faculty to develop and implement sustainable and results-oriented recruitment efforts. A primary focus of this position will be to assist in developing data-driven admissions/recruitment campaigns and strategies for individual programs. Assist the Office of Admissions with meeting graduate student enrollment and revenue goals.

Job Description

Recruitment/Outreach 40%

  • Cultivate key relationships with other universities (i.e. Group of Four Schools), and professional organizations and serves on appropriate committees.
  • Schedule, host and present at virtual information sessions with key administrative offices during the fall and spring seasons, with particular focus on prospects from underrepresented regions of the globe.
  • Assist with diversity recruitment events and initiatives that focus on global and U.S. underrepresented communities.
  • Design and administer procedures for prospective student and admissions experience data collection and retrieval.
  • Serve as key point of contact for HNC Certificate + SAIS MAIR applicants, as well as currently enrolled Hopkins-Nanjing Center students applying to the MAIR program in Washington, D.C. Serve as key point of contact for the SAIS-Tsinghua dual degree application process. Conduct joint virtual information sessions with counterpart in Beijing, and review applications.
  • Represents SAIS at national recruitment fairs and conferences.
  • Requires travel to recruitment events and periodic evenings and weekend hours.

Data Collection, Reporting, and Analysis 30%

    Compile historical data, international/regional/national trends and SAIS enrollment forecast data to determine effective recruitment strategies. Primary point of contact for Slate user functions, including online application management, and assist with troubleshooting any questions or issues across campuses. Utilization of campus admission/enrollment reporting tools and analysis of data presented in such reports is essential. Create and distribute strategic and standardized prospect, applicant, and accept reports/dashboards for distribution to senior administration, staff and faculty Develop and implement prospective student and admissions experience surveys.

Application Review and Processing Support 20%

  • Review master’s applications submitted during the early notification and regular decision cycles.
  • Provide information and services in-person, via telephone and email to prospective students regarding admissions related matters.
  • Research questions, respond directly to inquiries and refer matters as appropriate.
  • Provide information to students on program eligibility, admissions application process, deadlines, and requirements.
  • Provide admissions procedure information and degree program information to prospective students and provides applicants with admissions status information.
  • During peak periods of application submissions, assist with status of files, contact students by phone or email to collect missing information and review admissions records for complete and accurate information and audits pending files for missing documents.

Integrated Marketing Communications Planning 10%

  • Create, moderate and direct content for the Admissions Office in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Global Enrollment and Recruitment including updates to the online application, web page content, inquiry forms, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage efforts with Admissions team members to proactively engage prospective diversity candidates in recruitment via different outreach options including but not limited to electronic communications and telephone campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree require
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • One year of related experience required.
  • Three years of relevant experience in recruitment, admissions, and diversity preferred, particularly in higher education.

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Ability to professionally represent SAIS with knowledge and energy at conferences and organizations, and with external recruitment/admissions pipeline partners.
  • Ability to independently and accurately counsel prospective students to provide smooth transitions from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Knowledge of client relationship management software (CRM) functions, preferably Slate Technolutions.
  • Active and current knowledge of applicant life-cycle data strategies and marketing recruitment best practices for admissions recruitment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse and international populations verbally and in writing.
  • International experience living in Asia, and Chinese language proficiency preferable.
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing principles, best practices, and techniques relevant to student recruitment and admissions.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies for recruitment of a diverse student population in a higher education environment, particularly in the online space utilizing social media and digital content management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; including communication with diverse constituencies in small and large group settings; serving as a resource for applicants, staff, faculty, and external constituencies.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent and professional judgment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet competing time frames, and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of SAIS admissions requirements, processes, academic programs and services.
  • Knowledge of Slate admissions platform is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to be flexible throughout the academic year and handle additional duties as assigned.
