Position Purpose
Support the physical development of our student athletes and enhance safety in the free weight room. Will supervise and maintain the free weight room during peak hours, oversee a maintenance schedule necessary to sustain a safe and clean facility, work with coaches to develop conditioning programs for our athletic teams, work with students, staff and faculty on lifting technique, oversee participant workouts and serve as a witness for those seeking assistance with strength training, conduct workshops to illustrate proper weight training technique and serve as a role model to uphold the Interscholastic Athletic Mission.
This position is considered “Essential Personnel” in the event that:
Essential Personnel are required to report to or remain at work if instructed to do so if contacted directly by the supervisor (or his/her designee), the Principal or a member of the Principal’s Staff (Leadership Team).
Three-quarter time, 11 months/year, 6 days/week with Saturday required during academic year, daily hours vary based upon athletic season and schedule, flexibility during school break periods. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Incumbent is expected to work with a high level of independence and autonomy, and exercise a high degree of initiative, influence, and judgment in decisions impacting staff and department operations.
Expected to solve problems or address issues that require immediate attention.

Internal & External Contacts
Frequent contact with students, Dean of Students office, PEA administrative and academic offices, faculty, coaches, and staff. External contacts may include parents, outside organizations, visitors and local community neighbors.

- an emergency occurs on the PEA Campus or in the vicinity that would impact PEA;
- inclement weather forces the closing of campus or;
- other emergency events deemed appropriate.

Key Accountabilities
- Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for all girls and boys sports during pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods as assigned by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
- Designs sport specific programs for weight training, conditioning, flexibility, and /or rehabilitation to meet the needs of student-athletes in the assigned sports.
- Assist with conducting and recording testing programs to determine effectiveness of development.
- Ensures proper supervision in the weight room, including instruction in lifting technique of training with free weights and Olympic Lifts, as well as safety procedures.
- Ensures proper supervision, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of equipment.
- Knowledge and commitment to follow Athletic Department and Academy policies and procedures along with other rules and regulations.
- Works with an integrative sports medicine team to proactively prevent injuries & assist with injury rehabilitation.
- Participate in weekly departmental meetings.
- Assist with creating daily standard operating procedures.

Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Strength and Conditioning Certification from an accredited body NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC
- CPR/AED Certification
Experience
- At least 1 year strength and conditioning experience required, preferably working with adolescence and young adults.
- Experience working with varied fitness levels and ages preferred.
- Coaching experience preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to develop and provide services to meet the needs of a wide variety of student athletes.
- Strategic high-level thinking coupled with the attention to detail necessary for successful planning and execution.
