Job Description:

The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites qualified candidates to apply for an adjunct faculty position in Modern Dance starting in Fall 2021. Duties include the teaching of a broad range of modern dance styles to beginning and advanced students. The successful applicant will have a strong background in modern dance, curriculum, as well as movement improvisation and choreography. Candidates should have experience teaching Jazz, Tap Dance, African, and Hip-Hop among others modern styles. Performance experience and a proven commitment to the arts as an important element of a college education are highly desired.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs;
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide committees;
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/ learning strategies;
  • Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum and in program review;
  • Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and informing students of their academic progress; and Maintain attendance and grading records and submit them according to published deadlines



Requirements:

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience teaching beginning and advanced modern dance;
  • Experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds, ages and abilities; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;
  • Performance experience;
  • Willingness to examine instructional, relational, and classroom practices to effectively engage and support racially minoritized students;
  • Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth; and
  • Teaching experience at the community college and knowledge of its mission and goals


Requirements:

  • Master's degree in related discipline
  • Three certified training sessions for online instruction via Quality Matters or acceptable equivalent
  • Experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds, ages and abilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to examine instructional, relational, and classroom practices to effectively engage and support racially minoritized students;
  • Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth
  • Teaching experience at the community college and knowledge of its mission and goals.



Additional Information:

The salary will be determined based on the guidelines and procedures of the Massachusetts Community College System and collective bargaining agreement. The position includes a broad benefits package.
