One postdoctoral researcher position is available at the University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center UF TREC.
The successful applicant will join an exciting multi-disciplinary project to study biology, ecology and management of invasive pests affecting tropical and subtropical crops. The successful applicant will be responsible for 1) identifying biological control agents against invasive pests, and 2) develop a method to monitor insect pests in nurseries.
The successful applicant will work with Principal Investigator from UF TREC and USDA-ARS in identifying research priorities.
This is a 1-year position with reappointment being contingent on performance and availability of funds. Salary range is 50,000- 55,000/year plus benefits depending on experience.
The position requires a PhD in in entomology, acarology, biology, or related field. The applicant must have fluency in English speaking and writing and a demonstrated ability to work independently and write scientific manuscripts. A demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required. Experience working with both insect and mite pests is looked upon favorably. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.
