Job Summary

The Office of the Provost is seeking candidates for the position of Web Developer, II. This position will join the Provost’s Office communication team and be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting select units within the Provost’s Office. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Communications, the web developer will support web application and development efforts necessary to create, maintain, and support the website functionality for select units within the Provost’s Office.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate must be able to work through all phases of the web application development cycle and have experience with the design, implementation, and deployment of web-based applications and websites from initial design and architecture through development, test, and deployment within the university’s content management system. The candidate will work with a creative team and collaborate with other units within the Provost’s Office to successfully support and communicate the institution’s strategic goals and key academic priorities.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

• Ability to write web applications that retrieve and update information in relational web-centric databases.
• Knowledge of modern front-end Web development tools, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and their associated build components.
• Ability to communicate with project stakeholders and process feedback internally and externally.
• Ability to troubleshoot website layout and web application performance issues and resolve issues independently or direct issues to the responsible party.
• Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, including providing time estimates and preparing accurate records and reports.
• Ability to analyze customer requirements and developing basic information systems solutions directly related to experience in Web application development and support.
• Ability to translate functional requirements into cross-browser Web applications.
