Statement of Job:

The School of Music at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for an Artist Faculty Position in Organ. The applicant will be required to teach applied organ, organ improvisation, organ literature and organ pedagogy. Other courses according to the needs of the school and the candidate’s expertise. This candidate will assist in recruiting organ students to the program, will coordinate with the keyboard area head and the director of the School of Music. The School of Music seeks, for this position, a strong performer with extensive performance experience and a demonstrated success as a teacher, knowledge of literature and performance practices.

The person in this position will teach applied (private) organ lessons to any organ major or any other student interested in organ study. They will also teach organ literature and pedagogy to organ performance majors. Additional duties include assisting in recruiting, attending keyboard juries, adjudicating auditions to the program and other coursework as the needs of the School of Music intersect with the candidate’s areas of expertise. This is a temporary position based on the student need each semester.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in music. Master’s Preferred.
