Director, Athletics Media Relations Gannon University, a Catholic
university and member of the NCAA Division II and the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference invites applications for the position of
Director, Athletics Media Relations. The successful candidate will
be responsible for the planning and implementation of a proactive,
comprehensive communications operation for the University's NCAA
Division II athletics program. This position informs external and
internal entities of newsworthy matters concerning intercollegiate
sports at Gannon; conceives, writes, edits and designs all
collateral material required to successfully promote assigned
athletic teams; manages pre-game, game-day, and post-competition
media, compiling and posting statistics, video production, and
staffing events; serves as the main social media director for
Gannon athletics and works to ensure compliance with NCAA, PSAC,
and Title IX requirements relative to athletic communications.
Weekend time, as well as holiday time commitments and travel are
required. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant
field; a Master's degree is preferred. Prior experience in
collegiate or professional sports information is required;
experience in media relations or journalism is strongly preferred.
Must have a solid understanding of sports and sports statistics;
NCAA, PSAC, and Title IX requirements; the ability to organize,
prioritize and schedule work assignments; knowledge of editorial
and publications processes, systems and procedures; strong written
composition and editorial skills; and basic photography and
videography skills. Mastery of computer skills in use of Microsoft
Office, Web development and maintenance software, Adobe InDesign,
Social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut
Pro, Statcrew, and NCAA LiveStats software is strongly preferred. A
valid driver's license with a good driving history is required.
