RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR - AQUATICS/OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Scope of Job:
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive aquatics and outdoor adventure program for the department of University Recreation.


Description of Duties:
• Coordinates, implements, evaluates and supervises the daily operations of the Aquatic/Outdoor Adventure Program.
• Oversees daily operations of the assigned facility related to the Aquatics/Outdoor Adventure program
• Hires, trains, schedules and supervises assigned staff.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the climbing facility and outdoor leisure pool
• Coordinates the planning and development of the assigned program.
• Implements and oversees adherence to risk management strategies related to the Aquatics and Outdoor Adventure program.
• Assists with outreach and marketing.
• Inspects assigned facilities for damage or maintenance needs.
• Oversees equipment purchasing, maintenance, and replacement necessary for the Aquatics and Outdoor Adventure program.
• Evaluates and assesses goals and learning outcomes associated with the program.
• Assists with the development of and adherence to policies and procedures
• Assists with administrative duties including timecards, travel, purchasing and inventory.
• Completes required reports and reporting forms.
• Conducts regular operations meetings.
• Maintains records (inspections, trainings, certifications, etc.) for the assigned program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
May supervise assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Kinesiology or a related field from an accredited University.

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in the described majors from an accredited University.

Licenses/Certifications:
Requires current CPR, First Aid, AED certification, or obtain within six (6) weeks of starting the position. Preferred: Outdoor recreation technical certifications such as Wilderness First Responder.

Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in wellness/sports facility management, recreation/sports program management and/or coaching or performing related duties.


Preferred Experience:
Experience in Aquatics and Outdoor Adventure program.


Equipment:
Proficiency in standard office equipment. Specific sports equipment as required by the program.


Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Indoor and outdoor environment.


Other:
Some travel, as well as some evening and weekend work will be required Experience with fiscal management and ability to manage a crisis situation. Experience with risk management and management of recreational programs on a college campus. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently to move objects. This position will be subject to a pre-employment physical.
