Position Description

The Collegiate Seminar Program seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach:

Seminar 103 Western Tradition II, TTH 3:00 PM - 4:35 PM in Fall 2021

This course will be taught in person.

In addition to teaching, instructors in the Collegiate Seminar Program are expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of three hours a week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom. Instructors are also expected to participate in faculty development including workshops, class observations, and syllabus collaboration. Course design must follow the program's common syllabus, meeting the requirements described.

Course Description

Seminar 103 Western Tradition II

Employing and building upon the strategies of critical thinking, critical reading, and shared inquiry learned in previous seminars, students will read, write about and discuss a selection of Renaissance, 17th, 18th and 19th-century texts from the Western tradition. The reading list is current but subject to modification.


Qualifications:
Minimum:

At least two years experience teaching lower division GE courses, or similar courses in the applicant's home discipline as the instructor of record at SMC or equivalent courses at an accredited institution. Outside applicants (non-BUFM) must also submit evaluations, evidence of course development, and evidence of teaching excellence.

Preferred:

  • PhD in hand
