Qualifications:
Organic Chemistry I Laboratory, as the first course of a two-semester sequence, introduces organic structure and bonding; structure and reactivity of alkyl halides, alkenes, and alkynes; reaction mechanisms; and structure determination by IR, NMR, and other methods. The lab (Chem104L) emphasizes the basic experimental methods for reacting, isolating, purifying, and identifying organic compounds. Students focus on careful experimentation, hands-on skills, detailed record-keeping, and thorough analysis of results.

This lab meets in person on Thursday from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm during the 2021 fall term.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or related area preferred, should have a successful record of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and familiarity with online/hybrid instruction.
