There are two first shift positions available: one would work from Sunday - Thursday from 6:30am until 3:00pm and the other position would work from Tuesday - Saturday 6:30am - 3:00pm

Purpose of this Position:

Perform general maintenance and repairs in all college buildings. The position involves completing daily work order assignments which might include: replacing lightbulbs, unclogging toilets, moving furniture, changing air filters etc. The scope of duties falls within the range of work normally performed by carpenters, electricians, plumbers, locksmith et al., but do not require the skills of a journeyman or a licensed tradesperson. Trade mechanics must possess the ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines.

This position is ‘Essential' and will be needed for emergencies or to work when the College is closed.

Essential Functions of the Role:
  • Complete work orders as assigned
  • Inspect buildings for safety, security or code violations
  • Interacts professionally with all members of the Emerson community
  • May be required to assist other trades as directed
  • Report building damages, malfunctioning equipment, needed maintenance and/or repairs in assigned work areas


Other Responsibilities:
  • Provide building access for contractors
  • Accurately document time and materials information
  • Maintain tools, equipment and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Assist other departments when requested to do so


Qualifications:
  • General working knowledge of building systems and functions
  • 2-3 years in trades, or related field
  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with co-workers and supervisors
  • Must be comfortable using email, and working within the work order system
  • Ability to work independently, resolve problems and function as a member of a team


Work Environment and Demands of the position:

Physical Place and Existing Conditions: Exposure to noise, dust, heat, chemicals, fumes, etc. Also, may be exposed to seasonal temperature extremes, including occasional wet and slippery conditions

Intellectual and Mental Concentration for extended periods of time

Requires the ability to effectively communicate in person and through communication media

Requires constant coordination of Mental and Visual Attention

Hiring Range: $42,750.00 - $44,700.00
