The Associate Director will provide leadership and direction on
assigned programs and projects, ensuring that overall strategies
and efforts align with and support the larger strategic vision,
plans, and goals of the Offices of Admission and the Strategic
Enrollment Management (SEM) unit. Serving on the first year
recruitment leadership team, the Associate Director will directly
supervise FT Admission Counselors and/or Assistant Directors. This
position will also develop and oversee training and professional
development for admission staff to ensure knowledge, understanding,
and excellent execution of projects or aspects of the work under
the Associate Director’s purview. The position will be responsible
for directing and evaluating assigned recruitment strategies and
initiatives, and will provide ongoing assessment, management, and
recommendations for senior admission leadership. The position also
includes responsibility for a geographic recruitment market and
other general admission counseling duties such as application
review, admission presentations, and admission special
events.
The Associate Director of Admission for Events will provide
leadership, vision, and direction for the Office of Admission
regarding event programming. Directly supervising two full-time
staff members, and leadership for all first-year recruitment staff
for executing events, the Associate Director will assume
responsibility for the successful planning and execution of all
aspects of event programming. Utilizing data, demographic trends,
industry best practices, and other forms of quantitative feedback,
the Associate Director will continuously monitor and evaluate the
effectiveness of Admission event strategies and practices to
successfully recruit and enroll the brightest, best, and most
diverse students to Miami’s Oxford campus. In addition, all
positions are responsible for the understanding and upholding of
Miami University’s and Enrollment Management and Student Success’
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statements, values and goals. This
campus-based, full-time position is located in Oxford, Ohio.
Assume responsibility and accountability for all on-campus event programming related to recruitment and yield, including planning, execution, budget management, and meeting attendance and yield goals.
Working with admission leadership, outline the direction and expectation for all on-campus recruitment and yield programming and events, training admission staff to ensure the implementation and employment of divisional standards related to first-in-class customer service. (25%)
Assume responsibility and accountability for all off-campus event programming related to recruitment and yield, including planning, execution, budget management, and meeting attendance and yield goals. Provide leadership and vision for off-campus events focused on building and strengthening relationships with alumni, admitted students, and other key constituents and supporting the overall recruitment and yield strategies of the office, including Red Brick Roadshows, divisional receptions, and other events as appropriate. (25%)
Actively participate in general admission activities, including
admission territory management, recruitment travel, conducting
presentations, reading applications, and counselor on duty shifts
as assigned. (15%)
Direct the compilation of data and statistics for reports,
projections, and analysis pertaining to visits, events, and other
programming. Utilize admission prospect and applicant data to
create new event initiatives that align with the greater University
strategic priorities and refine existing opportunities to align
with stated goals. Utilize data analysis, benchmarking and research
to ensure Admission event programming policies, procedures, and
events are reflective of the nation’s and competitors’ best
practices. (10%)
Collaborate with the Enrollment Marketing and Communication team to
ensure that all facets of the event strategy employ an integrated
approach with respect to technology, communication channels, and
messaging. Monitor, evaluate, and improve effectiveness of
communication strategies. (10%)
Directly supervise two assistant directors dedicated to event
responsibilities, and co-lead visits and events meetings. (5%)
Oversee coordination of special events focused on increasing
Miami’s reputation among high school counselors, including the
Advisory Board, MU/UD counselor tour, counselor luncheons, state
organization-sponsored events, and other events as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years of experience in
admission, higher education, or a related field.
Candidate must be politically savvy and diplomatic.
Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, have a
proven record of developing relationships and building rapport with
internal and external constituencies, and demonstrate the ability
to successfully manage a staff to ensure a climate of collaboration
and teamwork, while encouraging professional development and
continued improvement at the same time.
Must be able to provide leadership and mentoring, but work
independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, as
well.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s Degree and five years of experience in admission,
higher education, or a related field.
Experience working with data for the purpose of strategic
decision-making.
Familiarity with Slate and working with other relational
databases.
Supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be familiar with contemporary recruitment strategies,
national demographic trends, and current research in the admission
field.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computer systems and
various software applications, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to perform overnight travel; valid driver's license.
