About Us: 

The MGH Institute of Health Professions encourages nominations and applications for a Program Director to lead a new Clinical Doctoral Program in Audiology (AuD) that will be enrolling students in 2023. The AuD Program Director faculty position will start in October 2021. The AuD Program is currently under development as a collaboration between the MGH Institute of Health Professions and Mass Eye and Ear in Boston. We are seeking an innovative and dynamic individual who will be part of an interprofessional team within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS). As part of the SHRS, the AuD Program is the latest addition to our suite of highly ranked master’s and doctoral programs in Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Genetic Counseling, and Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD).

Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chair of the CSD Department, the AuD Program Director will provide leadership and vision to establish an innovative curriculum, build a faculty, and shepherd the program through the later stages of the initial accreditation process. This position represents a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking professional to build important partnerships within our clinical and scientific community and support the Institute’s goals of preparing health professions leaders, advancing health care for our diverse communities, and contributing to a culture of inclusive excellence.

Responsibilities:

The AuD Program Director will be responsible for all aspects of academic leadership and administration within the program, which includes setting strategic direction, recruiting students and faculty, budgeting and fiscal management, curriculum development and evaluation, securing external funding, and contributing to leadership and our interprofessional and inclusive environment within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The AuD Program Director will be responsible for preparing for the initial site visit of the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) prior to the enrollment of the initial cohort of students in May 2023. Like all Institute faculty members, the AuD Program Director will have teaching responsibilities and will be expected to participate in scholarly and service activities and provide mentorship to others.

Qualifications:

The Program Director must have a PhD or AuD, hold ASHA certification as an audiologist, and have or is eligible for Massachusetts state licensure as an audiologist. In addition, at least 5 years of experience as an audiology educator in a CAA-certified academic program in audiology is required. Previous academic leadership and experience with AuD program development and accreditation are highly desirable. The applicant should have strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership and management experience, a record of scholarship and service, and a demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. A strong history of research productivity is desirable, but not required. This position is a 12-month appointment, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
