The Engineering and Physics Department at Providence College seeks applications for a full-time visiting assistant professor starting in August 2021. A Ph.D. in physics or closely-related field (although ABD applicants will be considered) from an accredited institution and a passion for teaching effectively are essential. The successful candidate will be an energetic and dynamic instructor with a demonstrated commitment to and/or experience with engaging a diverse population of bright and motivated students in the classroom and potentially through collaborative research experiences. Typical teaching assignments will include courses such as calculus-based General Physics and/or laboratory sessions for science majors and Conceptual Physics and Astronomy for non-science majors. The college has recently completed the initial stage of a multi-million-dollar Science Complex renovation that provides flexible state-of-the-art teaching facilities designed to support an array of pedagogies that enhance student engagement and interaction in the classroom and that emphasize inclusive excellence.
