Hall Director, Hallett
The University of Colorado Boulder and Residence Life encourages applications for a Hall Director! This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position with educational, leadership, administrative, and advising responsibilities. The primary purpose of the Hall Director is to lead a community that prepares student to be outstanding contributors to their halls, classes, campus, and global society.
The CU Boulder Hall Director position requires inclusive, student focused, and adaptable teammates. Successful candidates will be highly collaborative but will also have the skills needed to make decisions independently. A dedication to inclusive educational practices is highly preferred as one of the departmental priorities is inclusion. This position may also support a community with identity-based living learning communities (LLCs).
This position will be responsible for supervising the management of one of our first year residential halls with oversight of 400+ students; supervision and mentorship of residential student staff; developing meaningful relationships with students through one to one personal interaction, implementing residential curriculum; integrating faculty partnerships within the residential experience; and working intently to identify students of concern as they arise.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Community and Leadership Development:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational and academic programming and maintain budgets and other fiduciary responsibilities.
- Promote an inclusive student centered residential environment that supports the academic mission of the institution.
- Intentionally pursue avenues for infusing academic connections and learning experiences in the residential environment for all students.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff within academic programs (FIGs, RAPs, and LLCs) to strengthen academic partnerships and linkages.
- Actively seek out opportunities for student leadership and involvement including advising Hall Council, and supporting RHA and NRHH initiatives.
Human Resource Management:
- Coach, mentor, supervise and develop staff to become effective student leaders, and conduct all performance reviews and mentoring sessions as appropriate.
- Support recruitment, hiring, and training processes for student and professional staff and actively seek opportunities for inclusive practice in all facets of human resource development.
- Facilitate Residence Life communication efforts across all community staff positions.
- Serve as a student conduct hearing officer for level violations and pursue opportunities for student learning within community impact.
- Interpret and enforce residence hall and university policy and regulations and seek proactive approaches to communicating with students.
- Maintain Maxient database for student conduct, crisis, and students of concern.
- Serve in an on-call rotation for 7,000+ residents and provide crisis management assistance and follow up.
- Identify students of concern in community and facilitate connection with university resources as appropriate.
- Uphold all departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.
Operations & Administration:
- Maintain regular interaction with facilities, environmental services, dining, occupancy management, and other key university partners.
- Management of roommate agreements, mediation, and room change processes.
- Supervise the safety and security of a residential environment.
- Coordinate processes such as community move-in, safety checks, damage billing, and move out.
- Fiduciary over community budgets.
- Support the management and operation of community centers.
- Model as a good steward and representative of Residential Programs and Services on university committees and task forces.
- Partner proactively with student affairs and university offices to support the needs of students.
- Assist with student retention and persistence efforts.

- The anticipated start of these positions is late-July to early August 2021.

- The salary rate for this position is $47,476.

What We Require
- Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- One year of direct professional experience working with college students.
- Or two years of graduate assistant work.
What You Will Need
- Direct work with or experience advising marginalized students.
What We Would Like You To Have
- Master’s Degree in College Student Development or Higher Education Leadership from an accredited university.
- Proven dedication to diversity, inclusion and intercultural competence.
- Experience developing and implementing academic initiatives or residential curriculums.
- Experience with student conduct and crisis management.
- Experience with supervision, budget management, advising and divisional collaboration.
