Position Summary

Under general supervision of department chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Exercise and Sport Science and Athletic Training Program. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field
• Current BOC certification
• Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Wisconsin (or eligible)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience in the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program
• At least one (1) year of clinical practice experience as an Athletic Trainer
• Previous experience as an Athletic Training Preceptor

Duties to Support Responsibility

• Prepare and deliver curriculum to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts, ensuring they comply with department, college and university guidelines including accessibility for students with disabilities.
• Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers utilizing the department’s grading criteria and system.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations and other assessment measures.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records, and deliver them to the Registrar as directed by UW-L policy.
• Supervision /maintenance of studio/ lab as appropriate.
