Provides expertise in support of research projects in social science, behavioral science, or humanities, including psychology, sociology, education, etc. Performs advanced testing procedures, data collection, and analysis. Prepares reports. May work with human subjects and contribute to grant proposal development. Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure, processes, or experimental design. May prepare and/or edit research papers, proposals and reports.Understands and applies fundamental theoretical concepts. Develops understanding of advanced theoretical concepts.Duties: Work is varied and somewhat difficult. Originality and ingenuity is required.Supervision: Receives direct supervision referring complex situation to higher levels.

Additional Job Details

This full-time Researcher 1 position will require working with animals, conducting experiments in a laboratory
setting and laboratory management. They will be conducting a variety of animal behavioral testing paradigms
and procedures, collating data and contribute to data base management. Knowledge of biochemical assays
such as Western Blot and ELISA along with laboratory management skills is desirable. They will also help
implement new techniques and procedures depending upon grant goals. The candidate will also be responsible
for general laboratory maintenance and restocking consumables through our online system. The candidate will
need to comply with all governmental and University of Houston policies, rules, regulations and codes. They
will also need to maintain training certifications required to work with animals and conduct experiments in a
laboratory.

Bachelors and 1 year experience.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with both rats, mice and conducting minor surgery.
