Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.

The Division of Business, Creative & Performing Arts at Guilford Technical Community College seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and collaborative theater professional with significant experience in all aspects of play production to join our team. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach courses designed to support our theater programs and to transfer to a four-year college or university bachelor's degree. Courses may include: Theater History; Acting; Directing; Stagecraft; and Play Production. The successful candidate should be prepared to integrate technology skills into the classroom and be available to teach at times and locations that meet the needs of students. The successful candidate will serve as faculty advisor for the Associate of Fine Arts in Theater students; work to develop and maintain collaborative transfer agreements with area colleges and universities; as well as assume responsibility for all aspects of the college's drama offerings to include a Fall and Spring student theater production. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in historical and contemporary issues of theater and related fields; and committed to working constructively with all facets of a growing Theater Arts program within the community college and the greater theater community.

Education Required: -Master's degree or Master of Fine Arts degree in Drama/Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university

Education Preferred: -Doctoral degree in Drama or Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university

Experience Required: -3 years of post-secondary teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study -Experience directing and/or coordinating theater productions.

Experience Preferred: -Greater than 3 years of post-secondary teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study -Experience directing and/or coordinating college-level theater productions, with student participants -Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes -Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
