Job Description:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Operations assists and oversees the many aspects of managing the business and operations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Assistant is responsible to oversee all event management aspects, including the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of all on and off-site events. Manage the facility scheduling and coordination of internal and outside events, the concessions operation, and more. Assist the Associate Director of Athletics/Fiscal Affairs to ensure proper federal, state, Minnesota State system and MSU financial policies and regulations are being followed and proper documentation is being completed. Act on behalf of the Associate Director as applicable or needed.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience working within a college or university athletic department, or equivalent experience, relating to one or more of the following areas: game management, event planning, facility scheduling, financial administration and concessions operations.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of an athletic department at a college or university.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NSIC, NCAA, WCHA and/or other similar associations in order to work with compliance, equity and other related athletic issues.
  • Ability to acquire and follow proper State, MnSCU and University regulations as they apply to the operations of the department.
  • Demonstrated record of effective cash-handling responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage and supervise groups of individuals.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and knowledge of facility scheduling software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain multiple on-going projects at any given time.


Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
