Division/Department Information The Department of Art and Design at St. John's University invites applications for an adjunct position in Graphic Design, to begin September 2021. The Department is located on the Queens campus in New York City, and offers BFA degrees in Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, and Fine Art, a BA in Art History and an MA in Museum Studies. The mission of the Department, since the first degree program was offered in 1963, is to provide a rich and challenging educational environment that emphasizes the creation of visually sophisticated works and concurrently develops the whole person: intellectually, ethically, and critically. Students in the 132-credit NASAD accredited Graphic Design program complete a rigorous program of coursework followed by a capstone course and internship or thesis.


The Department of Art and Design at St. John's University in Queens, NY is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach both upper and lower-level graphic design courses. The courses are project-based studio courses taken by BFA Graphic Design majors. We will be hiring for Graphic Design I (Online synchronous), Introduction to Typography (Face to Face meets Tuesday and Friday from noon to 3pm EDT), Social Media for the Arts (Online asynchronous), and Professional Portfolio (Online synchronous).


The ideal candidate will be an experienced Graphic Designer who is currently working in the field and has college level teaching experience. Successful candidates will be able to teach in areas related to the courses listed above including typography, publication/editorial design, packaging design, design for interactive media, and motion graphics. Candidates should have a Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent experience; some online teaching experience is preferred.
