Pratt Institute is seeking a detailed-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong analytical skills and exemplary customer service skills to join the Controller's Office team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and maintaining assigned payrolls with high accuracy ensuring to follow payroll standards and best practices. If you can plan and deliver high-quality service to a diverse population, have experience in handling a multi-million-dollar payroll, and can demonstrate knowledge of state and federal tax regulations and best Payroll practices, then we want to hear from you!
Key Essential Duties include the following:
- Process payrolls assigned for our:
- Facilities Management and Public Safety officers on a weekly basis
- Part-time faculty on a semi-monthly basis
- Administrative staff and students on a bi-weekly
- Full-time faculty on a monthly basis
- Work closely with Human Resources and other campus departments responsible for submitting information pertaining to payroll actions.
- Process payroll actions such as new hires, terminations, change of address, tax changes, and garnishments. Calculate deductions for union dues, pension and medical health insurance, other voluntary contributions.
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience required; preferred major in accounting, finance or business management;
Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years payroll experience including knowledge of general ledger accounts and practices; additional experience in general accounting preferred.
Skills: The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate in their resume experience in using advance features in spreadsheet software like pivot tables, analytical features like V-look ups and other advanced formulas. You should have experience in using Adobe Acrobat and other office productivity software like Microsoft Office or Google Apps. This position requires the ideal candidate to be able to communicate confidently and confidentially with a variety of faculty, staff and students regarding their payroll.
The selected candidate will work remotely 2-3 days per week, until further notice.
