Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member in the Interior Architecture and Design Department to begin August 2021. Determination of rank and/or tenure, or continuing non-tenure track is dependent upon candidate qualifications. This position requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field, as well as teaching and professional experience. Candidate must hold at least one degree in interior design. Desired qualifications are an MFA or PhD in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field, NCIDQ certification. LEED certification is desirable.
Successful candidates will be creative and enthusiastic individuals with a commitment to quality education, student centeredness, and being part of a collaborative team. Candidates must also be able to function well in a technological environment. Specifically, a proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suites, SketchUp, and rendering programs such as Lumion and/or 3dsMax is required. Experience in online course delivery is a plus but not required.
Candidates are expected to actively participate in departmental, college and university-wide committee work; curriculum development; academic support services such as portfolio review and undergraduate advisement; student recruitment; and professional organizations.
Candidates must have the ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment and teach in one or more of the following areas:
2D/3D manual drafting and sketching
Computer aided drafting and design
Manual and digital rendering and presentation techniques
Foundational through upper level design studios with emphasis on the design process and creative problem solving
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
