Position Summary:
The Software Engineer utilizes a comprehensive understanding of Eastern Kentucky University and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services business requirements to produce applications that meet business needs. This position helps to coordinate development activities by educating other staff and reviewing code regularly ranging all 3 tiers of development (presentation, data access, and database).

Minimum Education:
Certification or graduation from a four (4) year college or university.

Minimum Experience:
Two years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Microsoft ASP.NET MVC
• Knowledge of Web Browser Development and Diagnostics
• Superior understanding of web technologies including modern web browsers and the Microsoft development stack including ASP.NET MVC.
• Experience with Microsoft and Linux Server operating systems and IIS and Apache2.
• Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, GitHub and software integrations.

Job Functions:
Identify and establish data and application architecture or systems integration patterns and practices, sharing with staff individually and in group settings to ensure availability of data and compatibility with modern web browsers.
Provide Microsoft ASP.NET MVC programming support and integration using Identity Server and establishing authentication and access control patterns for users and applications.
Migrate old presentation code to modern architecture by developing RESTful web services and building JavaScript (Angular) applications using frameworks such as Angular with Google Material Design.
Coordinate application deployment by establishing deployment processes and pipelines, integrating programming changes into production code using GitHub, and maintaining web server configurations.
Maintain awareness of advances made by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) toward standardization of web technologies in order to generate unique solutions and ideas to cross-functional problems.
Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Special Instructions Summary:
The Training Resource Center (TRC) provides Administrative and Training Support Services to the Department for Community Based Services. The funding is in whole or part from federal, CHFS or other state funds and subject to annual renewal. This is a contract EKU position based in Richmond. Remote work is a possibility.
