General summary/purpose:

The Sr. Research Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for overseeing management and analysis of data from several cutting edge public health research studies in India. Studies include cluster-randomized trials, cohort studies and cross-sectional surveys recruited using respondent-driven sampling (RDS). The position will primarily be focused on management and analysis of data collected from these research projects, however there will be an expectation that the Data Analyst participates in development of data collection materials and modalities including testing and quality control of custom electronic databases. There may also be activities related to protocol development (as it relates to data issues), IRB progress reports and study communications. There will be opportunities to contribute to and lead manuscripts and presentations at scientific meetings. The Senior Research Data Analyst will need to work closely with core members of the research group to problem-solve issues and achieve project goals. Collaborative communication skills are key.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, management and updating of custom study databases (programming done by international colleagues)
  • Oversee quality control procedures for data collection/analysis
  • Provide weekly/monthly updates to study sites on study follow-up and other metrics of quality control
  • Conduct statistical analyses of data collected from these projects to support project investigators
  • Coordinate and contribute to manuscripts with guidance from project investigators
  • Assist with study protocol development
  • Organize and manage project materials
  • Assist with questionnaire development and analysis of pilot data
  • Assist with routine communications with multiple IRBs
  • Participate in calls with international collaborators on a weekly basis

Minimum qualifications (mandatory), education and experience

  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or other related discipline.
  • 1 years of experience in statistical analysis/data management. Require highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research.

*Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
