EAP Program Manager

General summary/purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Worklife Programs; this position will be responsible for programmatic oversight of the Johns Hopkins EAP Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Duties will include management and administration of projects for the EAP. Developing, implementing, and evaluating program objectives and activities to support business decision-making and to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The EAP Program Manager manages short-and long-term projects assigned by the Senior Manager, Worklife Programs, and works with leader to manage incoming and outgoing projects, programs, and client relations, including marketing and communications and partnerships. The EAP Program Manager applies a strategic approach to ensure efficiency and cross-collaboration in all projects.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

The EAP Program Manager will:

  • Assist in the management, design, and implementation of policy and procedures relating to the EAP.
  • Provide high-level support to the EAP program in managing, coordinating, and facilitating the accomplishment of the EAP’s organizational goals, objectives, and strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Prepare for a variety of meetings, presentations, discussions, etc., by researching and gathering critical information and intelligence on issues; creating reports and presentations; preparing briefings; developing and proposing agenda items; conducting necessary follow-ups; and briefing the Senior Manager on the state of affairs, critical points, and sensitivities.
  • Carry out critical and important projects in conjunction with other team or committee members, including developing plans, defining and communicating alternatives, and making recommendations regarding appropriate courses of action based on thorough understanding and desired outcomes, expectations, and timelines.
  • Prepare for staff meetings, work groups, and task forces. Interface with committee members, prepare agendas, and coordinate meetings.
  • Resolve complex business problems and escalations by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with the management of the external EAP vendor to maintain their compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Develop institutional relationships; collaborate and liaise extensively with a variety of individuals on different matters central to the EAP.
  • Interface with key leadership and leadership offices across the university and health system. Ensure efficient collaboration/coordination among different departments/units.
  • Provide other EAP program coordination, as needed

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • Master’s Degree in a field that is Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services related (equivalent work experience accepted).
  • Two year workplace experience which can include internship experience. EAP, SAP, and/or worklife field knowledge preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization and interpersonal skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team is essential for this function because this role interacts with all members of mySupport as well as staff, faculty, internal leadership and providers in the community.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
