The website operations specialist will support the Office of Communications and Public Affairs in the management and administration of the main Bowdoin website,

The focus will be on supporting the website editor community, made up of faculty, staff, and students from more than 100 departments across the College. The work will include software training and website editing/production, with an eye toward accessibility, usability, and overall quality.

Education/Skills Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS ; you understand how to troubleshoot common website issues.

Excellent communicator, with exceptional writing and proofreading skills. You can follow an editorial style guide.

Self-starter, comfortable with and capable of working independently, managing your work queue, and proactively identifying areas that need improvement.

Interpersonal skills and multicultural competence; you are patient and capable of working with a variety of skill levels.

Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Problem-solving mindset; you demonstrate analytical and creative thinking.

Detail-oriented, precise, and organized.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

2+ years of experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Experience working in a content management system. We use Cascade CMS, but familiarity with this software is not required—we mostly want to know you’re adept at learning software and teaching others how to use it.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Typically Monday thru Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. This is an exempt level position and requirements the time commitment necessary to fulfill all of the job responsibilities.
