Associate Vice President for Student Success and Retention

Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Success and Retention, the Associate Vice President will assist with managing the University’s success and retention initiatives; oversee student success and retention programs, including grant funded programs; develop and implement goals and strategies, as well as policies and procedures; and perform related work as required.

The Associate Vice President works in collaboration with faculty, staff and administrators throughout the university to provide essential support services to Kean University students and promote individual student success. The Associate Vice President directly oversees the following: the Spanish Speaking Program; Project Adelante; the Ronald E. McNair Grant Program; the Upward Bound Grant Program; and the Office of Social Work. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of professional experience in student success and retention initiatives at the university level or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the University. The selected candidate must be Bilingual in English and Spanish. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to multitask.
