Job Description:

The Special Projects Manager reports directly to, and works closely with, the President on a wide variety of administrative and executive duties, special projects, and initiatives involving the Office of the President and its priorities. The Special Projects Manager interacts with senior leadership at the College, and interacting with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, is responsible for planning, overseeing and leading projects from initiation to completion. Primary responsibilities include working with the President on several projects currently underway as well as developing, leading or supporting new projects and initiatives.

  • Lead or manage special projects on behalf of the President, which frequently involve senior leadership or cabinet members;
  • Serve as primary liaison for the Board of Trustees, and prepare board materials, minutes and meetings.
  • Conduct project reviews and assessments and create appropriate documentation;
  • Develop detailed project reports for College leadership;
  • Participate with the President and cabinet members in institutional planning, policy development and problem resolution;
  • Stay abreast of the issues and initiatives affecting RCC, and of community colleges in Massachusetts and nationally;
  • Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and responses on institutional, strategic and academic issues as appropriate.
  • Be knowledgeable about all areas on campus and new initiatives so as to best identify opportunities and represent the college.

Supervision Exercised: According to the projects, may supervise support staff


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to manage confidential student, personnel and financial information
  • Strong background in managing and leading complex internal and external collaborations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to successfully multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously
  • Experience in research, data analysis and developing briefing documents and other collateral materials
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills; superior presentation skills a plus
  • Excellent computer and technology skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
