Job Description Summary

The Physics Department at Auburn University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of experimental condensed matter physics. Research focus should align with the NSF, National Quantum Initiative, investigating materials for potential use to produce high-quality electronic devices & quantum sensors. Apply knowledge of physical characterization of emergent materials and interfaces using state-of-the-art spectroscopy, microscopy and scattering techniques. The Assistant Professor will (i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Physics curriculum; (ii) provide direction to undergraduate/graduate students and post-doctoral researchers; (iii) establish a vibrant, externally-funded research program in collaboration with programs at Auburn University and other institutions, and (iv) serve the department, college and university.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a PhD in Physics or a closely related field at the time the appointment begins. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are also required. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and the time the appointment begins and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
