Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU Transform Living and Learning Program’s mission is to equip students to be leaders/change makers both locally and globally by fostering their integrative learning through classroom instruction, reflection, and real-world application in order to strengthen each student’s leadership development, efficacy, and success. The Coordinator for Experiential Learning has responsibility for developing high-impact opportunities for students who are a part of the Transform living-learning program. The Coordinator will assist in tracking students who are participating in the experiential learning pathway. The Coordinator will create resources to help equip students to learn about and engage in their experiential learning pathway. The coordinator will track all REAL 310 forms and pathway data tracking and monitor students’ completion of the pathway. The Coordinator will supervise the undergraduate student interns. The Coordinator will teach LLP courses as needed. The Coordinator will assist in assessing program learning outcomes and will report findings to the Director. The position will ensure successful collaboration with other units within the Division of Student Affairs and the wide university and Richmond community. The position may require some work outside of normal business hours including nights and weekends. The Coordinator also performs other duties as assigned by the University.
Minimum Hiring Standards
Master’s degree in leadership, education, social sciences or related field. Experience with management of leadership development programs and student programming. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Knowledge of student development theory and practice. Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Demonstrated commitment to student success and experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU . Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment.
Preferred Hiring Standards
Experience in evaluation and assessment of programs. Direct experience engaging in high-impact practices such as study abroad, service-learning, undergraduate research, peer leadership, etc. Experience serving as a peer leader as an undergraduate or graduate student. Ability to be certified to drive university vehicles.
