Overview

Zane State College (ZSC) invites confidential nominations for and expressions of interest in the position of Provost and Chief Academic Officer. Reporting directly to the President, the Provost and Chief Academic Officer is charged with providing leadership and direction for the overall planning, management, and day-to-day operations of the College and is responsible for the planning, oversight, and budgeting of instructional programs, academic support services, and student support services. The Provost and Chief Academic Officer is expected to be a highly visible member of the community and have a strong business acumen to oversee the College's Center for Workforce Solutions and Entrepreneurship and Cambridge Center. The ideal candidate will further develop relationships with community, business, and educational partners.

Zane State College (ZSC), established in 1969, is a comprehensive, public community college that values people through its commitment to quality, equity, and stewardship. Serving the Appalachian Ohio region, ZSC's official service area consists of three counties in the State of Ohio: Muskingum, Guernsey, and Noble. However, due to the College's strong history with dual enrollment, now College Credit Plus, ZSC has a broad reach that includes student enrollment from approximately 20 counties. In Fall Semester 2020, the College enrolled 2,220 students. ZSC offers eight (8) less than one-year certificates, five (5) one-year certificates, 30 programs that lead to an associate degree, and one baccalaureate program in engineering technology. The College also offers a number of transfer opportunities including 2+2 and 3+1 transfer options to a wide selection of public and private colleges and universities. ZSC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) with several programs accredited by specialized accrediting bodies.

Located 55 miles east of Columbus, OH in Zanesville, a town of approximately 30,000 people, ZSC's main campus boasts the Advanced Science & Technology Center, College Hall, Health Science Hall, Law Laboratory, The Campus Center, and The Muskingum County Family YMCA. The campus's beautiful 179-acre grounds, which is shared with Ohio University-Zanesville, is home to a prairie surrounded by community hiking and walking trails. Other educational facilities include the College's 150-acre Natural Resources Center, located five miles west of the main campus and adjacent to Dillon State Park, and an additional 70-acre wetland located in Nashport. ZSC also features a training center in Cambridge, located 26 miles east of the main campus.

ZSC is recognized as a leading institution in Ohio and the Nation in helping to shape student success. Through its involvement in initiatives such as Achieving the Dream, Foundations for Excellence, AACC's Pathways, iPASS II, and The Aspen Equitable Pathways to Good Jobs National Symposium, Zane State College has helped to shape a student success foundation that will guide its work for years to come. The College has been named an Achieving the Dream (ATD) Leader College continuously since 2009 and received ATD's Leah Meyer Austin Institutional Student Success Leadership Award in 2012. With a graduation rate of 54 percent, ZSC has the top graduation rate in the state of Ohio. Student success at ZSC is not by coincidence – the College's 2020 Completion Plan and its 2019-2023 Strategic Plan are roadmaps intended to meet the shifting educational needs of our communities.

A doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; individuals who are on track to complete their doctorate degree by the end of Fall semester 2021 are welcome to apply. Preferred requirements include three years full-time teaching experience and a record of seven years of progressive and varied leadership experiences.
