Job Summary

The Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a two-year temporary lecturer position. This position will support the Department of Mechanical Engineering and fulfillment of the department’s educational mission, with a particular focus on both undergraduate and graduate courses in the broad areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermal-fluids engineering, or other related fields.

This is a non-tenure track appointment; the successful candidate will be appointed as a Lecturer for a duration of no more than two academic years. The position will report to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The position involves teaching five engineering courses per academic year on the CU-Boulder campus, beginning the Fall 2021 semester.

What You Should Know
  • The salary range for this position is $62,500 - $72,500 annually.
  • This is a two-year appointment aimed at filling a temporary teaching gap due to multiple faculty members on sabbatical and parental leave. While this appointment is for only two years, the person who takes on this role will have the opportunity to grow as an educator and increase their ability to be recruited as a teaching professor. Background checks will be conducted for all final applicants.

What We Require

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related field, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate engineering education and active engagement in the mechanical engineering field.

What You Will Need

The successful applicant would have demonstrated strong teaching ability and will be able to teach both lecture and lab-based courses. An interest in improving undergraduate and graduate engineering education is desirable.

What We Would Like You To Have

Preferred applicants would have prior teaching or industrial experience and would have already served as the instructor of record for one or more courses. Expertise is preferred in the broad areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermal-fluids engineering, or other related fields.
