Senior Coordinator, Employee Experience (14329)


The Talent Strategies Program Coordinator, Employee Experience will assist with the engagement and retention of employees at the university. This position will be responsible for coordinating, researching and implementing a variety of employee-engagement initiatives aimed at making AU a great a place to work. These initiatives include onboarding, employee resource programs, staff appreciation and recognition, offboarding, and other engagement initiatives. In addition, this position will support and be a resource to other Talent Strategies initiatives as appropriate.

Essential Functions

1. Research, coordinate, execute, and evaluate onboarding program

  • With the Talent Strategies team, other HR Teams, and campus stakeholders, develop of a yearlong onboarding process that culminates in one-year anniversary celebration and other milestone acknowledgements, and refresh annually or as needed.
  • Execute onboarding program to achieve goals and objectives, plan and administer the tactical elements of the program; create, produce, or collaborate on the deliverables.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations, providing a welcoming and upbeat experience to participants, whether virtual or in-person.
  • Populate new hire web sites and other web or portal based sites with latest tools and content for a good new hire experience.
  • Coordinate and manage the onboarding events throughout the year.
  • Utilize survey tools and existing data to analyze data trends; gaining insights into AU talent in effort to better understand the new hire experience, career progression, development needs, etc.
  • Partner with units across AU to assist them in designing effective departmental onboarding programs that complement the AU onboarding experience.

2. Plan and execute logistics for staff appreciation and staff awards programming

  • Assist co-chairs of the staff appreciation project team to plan and execute the annual Staff Appreciation events. Coordinate efforts among appointed working group including facilitating meetings, communication of meetings, and serve as point of contact for team members.
  • Coordinate staff awards logistics, including preparing the materials, coordinating the selection committee meeting, and preparing the awards letters.

3. Research, coordinate, execute, and evaluate an offboarding program

  • With Talent Strategies team, other HR Teams, and campus stakeholders, develop an offboarding process that allows for a seamless and positive exit experience, provides data to HR about turnover and engagement, and helps units transition to a new job search.
  • Execute offboarding program to achieve goals and objectives, plan and administer the tactical elements of the program; create, produce, or collaborate on the deliverables.
  • Monitor effectiveness of offboarding program based on pre-established goals and measures. Report on data, use for continuous improvement.
  • Provide exit interviews, as needed.
  • Utilize survey tools and existing data to analyze exit data trends, gaining insights into AU talent to better understand the AU employee experience and reasons employees leave.

4. Assist with planning and executing mentoring program and other staff development programs

  • Provide support to Talent Development on the Mentoring Matters program, and other development programs, including developing materials, assisting with applications processes, providing communications or web support, assisting in the design of programs or courses, and/or facilitating courses.

5. Research and assist with other employee engagement initiatives, and support and participate in Talent Strategies initiatives

  • With Talent Strategies Team, participate on project teams, attend meetings, conduct research for projects, compile or analyze data, develop communications content, and/or delier training.
  • The worker normally performs their job indoors in an office environment.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Development or equivalent education, training and experience
  • 3-5 years with general human resources experience with a focus on employee experience,engagement, and development

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience with learning management systems, applicant tracking software, and other HR-related software
  • Ability to build and facilitate trainings
  • Experience working within a complex, dynamic environment with multiple priorities
  • Ability to set up videoconference meetings, utilize features for an effective group meeting, moderate chat, and react to solve problems quickly

  • Public Speaking: Ability to effectively communicate with an audience by utilizing stage presence, story-telling, voice-control, body language, delivery and connection with the audience to convey a message and have a meaningful impact.
  • Training & Presenting: Information Training and presentation skills, which involves teaching, or developing in others, any skills and knowledge that is specific to a program or functional area; combines exercises, group discussions, webinars, lectures, and other methods to meet diverse learning styles; uses props, slides, and other presentation aids well; ensures that content is current, and that activities are engaging and effective so that the audiance clearly understands the intented message.
  • Program Management: Program management skills which involves managing and implementing program activities including the development of objectives, action plans and timelines; developing, managing and evaluating program budgets, statements of work and proposals; coordination of efforts with other functional areas; conducting program studies to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and policies; recommending and implementing process improvement efforts and enhancements to program policies, standards, systems, and/or processes; training others on program components and best practices; responding to policy and program inquiries and information requests from internal and external sources.
  • Data Reporting & Visualization Skills: Ability to summarize and report data using business intelligence software packages such as Entrinsik Informer, MicroStrategy and/or Tableau and create tables, charts, graphs, dashboards and other visualizations to provide business intelligence through analytics.
  • Microsoft Excel Basic skills: the user is able to enter and maintain data; has the ability to do subtractions, multiplications and division; and use basic formulas such as SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT NUMBERS, MAX and MIN.
  • Written Communication skills: Expressing oneself clearly and concisely, using language with precision; constructing logical arguments; accurate note taking, editing and summarizing; and writing reports or correspondence free of spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Social Media Skill: using social media tools and technology for program and/or organizational marketing and outreach.
  • Survey Software Skill: using survey software tools (i.e. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, SurveyGizmo) sufficient to develop effective research questions and collect and analyze results for data-driven decision making.
  • Web Design & Marketing Tools Skill: using web design and marketing software tools (i.e. CommonSpot, InDesign, Photoshop).
