ATTENTION:

The Department of Languages and Literatures in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for two lecturer positions to teach in its First-year English program.

This will be a fixed term appointment. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon the needs of the University, funding, staffing requirements, and external forces. For information on fixed term contracts: UW System Admin Policy 1250: Job Security .

JOB DETAILS:

Lecturers will provide support for first year English courses, including developmental writing. One position is for a full-time instructor for the academic year 2021-2022, typically 15 credits in the Fall and 12 credits in the Spring. The second position is for Fall semester only to teach up to four courses depending on department need. Indicate your preference in your cover letter.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Rhetoric/Composition or a related field
• Ability to teach emerging writers

Desired Qualifications

• Ph.D. preferred in Rhetoric/Composition or a related field
• Experience with and be able to effectively teach a diverse population

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
• Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
