About the Opportunity:
The Office of Student Services is actively seeking two Academic Advisors to join their team!

Please note: The primary work location for this position is the Boston MA Northeastern University Campus Location. Until our full return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process will be conducted remotely- including virtual interviews, remote onboarding and remote work. The remote nature of this position is subject to change in the future and is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the College and this role return to an operational status that supports it.

Responsibilities:
The academic advisor provides student-centered advising services to Bouve College of Health Sciences students. The advisor assists students with interpreting degree audits, understanding degree requirements, planning curricular and co-curricular experiences, and making referrals to resources. The advisor interprets and communicates University and College policies and procedures and assists students with navigating processes. The advisor works collaboratively with constituents across campus to facilitate services for students. The advisor will occasionally coordinate programs and events for students and will also coordinate special projects at the discretion of the Associate Director and/or Assistant Dean.

Qualifications:
Master's degree required. Two years of previous experience in higher education preferred. Candidates with a health-care background, higher-education experience, science background, or related education are encouraged to apply. Strong advising, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational, communication, and customer-service skills required. Candidate must enjoy public speaking and presenting, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The ideal candidate must possess a commitment to working with college populations and be able to manage multiple time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must possess a strong demonstrated proficiency in Internet research/navigation and Microsoft Office software for office productivity, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with using Access to generate existing reports preferred. Ability to manage, track, report data with high level of accuracy while exporting as it relates to tracking students' academic progression. Report production and assistance in identifying data patterns/trends. Desired candidate will demonstrate ability to interface with multiple user-friendly software platforms [Banner, Salesforce, DARS, Student Success Collaborative] in a fast-paced environment. The person in this position is expected to provide leadership and take initiative for project management and implementation. Prior knowledge and best practices in student development, retention and academic support programs are also required. Candidates must have experience in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with a diverse student population.
