About the Opportunity:
The Facilities Operations Manager serves as a member of the CPS Facilities team and shares in the leadership, support, and assistance to College of Professional Studies' (CPS) faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:
As the first responder in all emergencies and incidents, the Facilities Operations Manager possesses a broad knowledge base of facilities operations and building procedures. The Facilities Operations Manager develops and maintains positive and collaborative relationships with staff, faculty, vendors and stakeholders.

The incumbent must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and detail oriented, and have the ability to handle multiple competing priorities. Independent interpretation and decision making are required.

This position reports to the College Facilities Director.

The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for the following processes:
  • Manage a variety of requests including, but not limited to, arranging the maintenance/repair of equipment and facilities, overseeing CPS building access.
  • Assist with workspace moves by managing the facility needs.
  • Act as a liaison with Facilities Department to address the physical aspects of the building.
  • Collaborate with the CPS College Facilities Director on weekly facilities meetings to discuss vital issues along with any upcoming projects/planning.
  • Manage CPS conference rooms and other common spaces.
  • Address all on-site concerns and provide solutions with tact and efficiency.
  • Monitor facilities for renovations and upgrades. Survey and make recommendations regarding building maintenance.
  • Conduct inspections, purchase furniture, manage facilities concerns, and liaise with project managers during construction.
  • Coordinate delivery and service calls with all vendors.
  • Manage departmental key inventory as new staff are hired and leave positions while collaborating with HR.
  • Clarify and resolve complaints with departmental policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Balance job demands with the need to collaborate with university and community colleagues to enhance the department and one's own professional development.
  • Supervise student employees.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
    This staff member will carry a cell phone and be available to respond to crisis/problem situations. When called, staff member will be expected to direct and or coordinate the problem or crisis situation.

    Successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree with 2 - 4 years of experience or commensurate professional work experience in Facilities management. Effective supervision, administrative, organization, written and oral communication skills; excellent time management and decision making skills and ability to prioritize and perform under pressure required. Experience working autonomously and are able to exercise excellent judgment in their areas of responsibility. Experience supervising, working with and addressing needs of a diverse community. Ability to work independently and strong problem solving skills required. Experience with computer applications is required. Experience working in property management and/or higher education is a plus.
